Contest Rules:

Start your day on the water, on the 40-foot Hatteras QV Charters Smuggler’s Run.

  • Board the Smuggler's Run for the evening. You will begin the tour on the stage and learn about the history of Quidi Vidi then head out through the Gut to spectacular open waters and scenery. Look for whales and seabirds as you pass by Signal Hill, Cabot Tower and The Narrows. Try your hand at fishing then head back to the stage where you will learn how to clean and gut a fish and eat it right on the wharf.
  • Includes fish, fries and a beverage
  • Capacity – 12
  • Length of Experience – 3 hours including 1-hour wharf experience
  • Retention of fish only allowed during the fishing season.
  • Meal on wharf will always be provided.

  • The Inn by Mallard Cottage comprises two houses, each with 4 rooms nestled in the quiet fishing hamlet of Quidi Vidi Village. All 8 of the 435 square foot suites are appointed with one king size bed and an ensuite bathroom.
  • King Suites are furnished with a king size bed, ensuite bathroom and are located on the first level of the Inn.
  • Executive King Suites are furnished with a king-sized bed, ensuite bathroom and are located on the second level boasting 11-foot vaulted ceilings.
  • Coffee and tea are delivered to your door daily by 8:30am featuring fresh baked goods from our sister property Mallard Cottage Restaurant.

The Mallard Cottage, an 18th Century Irish-Newfoundland vernacular style cottage, is recognized as a National Historic Site of Canada, as being one of the oldest wooden buildings in North America.

Erin Callahan St. John, owner of Saucy Pots Pottery in the Quidi Vidi Village Plantation is passionate about learning and always choose to be in a community where the creative process is explored, and ideas are exchanged. 

  • Erin works with clay porcelain decorated with typeset to make every day functional pots hosting Newfoundland sayings.

  • The beard care box includes multiple beard oils, balms, moustache wax, hand-made body soap from St. John’s Soap Works, wooden and steel combs, brushes and trimming scissors.
